Lecturing UX Design

Scope of my lectures

Currently, I am instructing the "UX" module at Schule für Gestaltung Zürich for the "HF Product Design" degree program. My course materials are designed for students with a foundational understanding of design, who desire to refine their expertise in UX research and prototyping. My lessons are presented over one semester or as a design sprint.

Content of my lectures

  • Students are given an introduction to the field of UX and its relationship with other design disciplines such as "Product design" or "Interaction design". Additionally, they become familiar with all the methodologies utilized in the UX design process.

  • During the lecture, students will gain knowledge about diverse research methods in UX. They will comprehend the appropriate design research methodology to apply based on the stage of their design process. For instance, exploring and validating in the double diamond-inspired process.

  • Students will learn about the most effective ways to develop a persona and customer journey. Additionally, we will be discussing various techniques for validating a persona. As an optional exercise, students will have the opportunity to conduct interviews with individuals in the lecture to practice their interview skills.

  • I provide comprehensive instruction on Figma, with a focus on developing interactive prototypes and utilizing wireframing libraries.

  • As the last lesson, the students will confirm the effectiveness of their prototypes through usability testing. To prepare, they received guidance on how to conduct usability testing based on the concepts covered in previous lectures, such as personas, customer journeys, and wireframes.
